What is a Woolly Pocket?

Product Purpose

The main purpose of the product is to give stand alone free low voltage illumination, when required. This
removes the need for expensive trenching and cabling. Solar energy that is collected every day is stored within the battery cell until it is required to discharge by activating the illumination.

The solar calculations have all been based upon one hour of sunlight a day during the winter months, with recovered power for up to three days with no sun.

The activation is via a passive motion sensor that detects movement after dusk. The sensor is a major part to the system as this component drastically reduces the power consumption of the product.

Reducing power and wasted energy has been one of the most important issues to overcome a successful project. The combination of this product and Groundplug products gives the customer a sustainable and environmental friendly solution.

Construction
The cabinets are constructed slight different to our standard manufacturing method due to the integration of the canopy section. This canopy is formed from sheet aluminium and welded directly to the extruded profiles creating a seamless joint. The solar panel and all the electrical components are all fitted after the cabinets have been powder coated. The solar panel cannot be removed as this is bonded into position to aid security.
Fully lockable door fitted with clear high impact acrylic to the facia. Illumination fitted to the upper section totally concealed from view. The battery can be removed for maintenance or renewal at any time

Operation
The design of this product is to provide stainable energy through daylight hours. The LED illumination provides adequate light to illuminate any poster or notice that can be read in reduced light. The activation of the illumination has a range up to 1.5mtr from the top of the display case. The illumination is on a short timer which will switch off if there is no movement from below the cabinet but in general if some- one is viewing a notice etc. the constant movement of that person will activate the light constantly until they walk away.
The design of the electronics combined with the products capabilities will allow a constant workload of up to three hours without switching off. The solar energy provided by the photovoltaic panel is stored in a purpose built battery. The battery has a capability to provide sufficient power for up to three days with no direct sunlight.

Un-suitable uses
Unable to run constantly for long periods of time i.e. up to four hours constantly running Covered areas where the solar panel has no direct contact with the sun. North facing direction is not advisable if possible as this drastically reduces the efficiency of the product. Used as a back lit light box or equivalent.

Maintenance
Solar panel to be kept free from debris i.e. leaves etc All sealing gaskets to be inspected regularly for signs of vandalisms Locks to be lubricated. Battery connections checked for signs of corrosion once a year. Glazing panels and seals to be checked for signs of vandalism.
Here are some important questions that you must try to obtain from any inquiry prior to providing a customer quotation.

Questions
1. Try to find out as much as possible regarding the customers final mounting location and proposed usage of the cabinet i.e. occasional use (park etc) or a busy pavement area.
2. What level of illumination is required?
3. Post mounted or wall mounted?
4. Are there any obstruction to where the cabinet will be mounted as this will have an effect on efficiency and performance
of the product?
5. Do they require installation by Whitehill Direct Ltd?
6. Do they require a bespoke system designed for their application?
7. What limitations due they have? i.e frequency of use etc
8. North,east,south or west facing?

This is perfectly natural and in all but the most extreme cases normal shape returns. This will not affect the structural strength of the timber.  Available in 3.3m, 3.8m or 5m diameter.
